As a result, “masstige and aspirational brands will suffer the most,” she told the audience,
adding that the handbag bubble is bursting now. “An ‘It’ handbag will become an
embarrassment — a clear sign that you don’t have your own view of fashion,”
-luxury analyst Claire Kent
Fashion, of course, the same as art, is a mirror for society. So naturally, every imaginable metaphor exists. Marketing was out of control for however long, even with fine art. False wealth both encouraged and supported it. But fashion and luxury won't go anywhere. I've been a bit excited about the fact that this isn't a time for suffering- its cleansing. Only the strong will survive, and more power to them anyway. This era has brought a plethora of people taking advantage of the big boy's coat tails. On every level. So now... We'll see who really has they own tools in they own damn toolbox. Better brush off that old school savvy and handshake cuz people are gonna be choosy enough to not feel your 'courteous' email. Happy to be working in the industry that is actually having a rebirth, the same type of players will emerge like they did in the late eighties- innovators. Contrary to all the irrational fear surrounding something that fake ass followers thought they 'loved'. Luxury is still here. Now only the people who actually afford can take advantage. and it's already chic to be modest, so fuck them anyway. That's what it do.
