Fashion is too confined within its own parameter. Art in 2008 is not about Renoir, French Impressionism, or even painting. Its about seeking new meanings and new interpretations of basic questions. If fashion wants to be recognized as Art, it must continually find new ways to interpret itself, seeking solutions to the same philosophical conflicts that Art is currently engaged with.
Fashion needs to depart from its identity as a decorative garment for humans. Future endeavors should be inspired independently of the contemporary market. Let fashion step outside of its market dependency, and it will have better odds of evolution.

good look
Fashion has always found a muse in art, gentlemen.
This is nothing new.
Designers, in certian circles are widely considered artists.
D and G are promoting their Spring line..and by using a ton of models in a shot, they get more "bang: for their euro.
it is what it is

Id like to see fashion follow its muse and attempt something new, hoping that fashion design will continually ask new questions of itself. complacency never moves creation forward.
Thank you for your valuable input jk, feedback is what keeps this forum viable!
sidenote - an interesting visual comparison, no?

i would also like to see fashion give itself more responsibility in the coming times, harnessing more fundamental artistic integrity along the way outside the business. it can revert back to doing something more than changing a strap every 4 months or linking w dif corporate sponsors. but, it is still meant primarily for adorning the body, and that simply is a wondrous art in its own right. there are many out there working for this.. and achieving it, right now.... there is plenty of genius floating around in this business that is for sure.
the comparisons of the two images is striking tho. thanks.
...unfortunately everybody is in a market crisis and and trying to sell sell... but an imminent global disaster may force a more humble state for society. from the corporations, downward.
