No matter what is you do.... Art, Photography, Sales, Directing, Modeling, Managing, Publishing, Acting, Designing, Styling, 'Receptionesting' haha; you have the unique pleasure to work in this still exclusive industry of imagery. i've noticed that in the past year the newest trend is to talk about how inclusive this business has or is becoming. sorry trendymctrendsters, even though Andy Warhol is more popular than in a while thanks to this new generation of interneters and the refurbishing of Interview, the business is still tiny. and that is a good thing. that is the very essence of it. we sit from the top and dictate whatever the masses consider to be the pinnacle of elegance. yet, all the fashion and art magazines together maybe only have a (monthly) circulation of 20 million. that sounds like a lot, but that's including Vogue. how many people read V Magazine every drop? maybe 20,000 touch its cover, maybe. that's not a lot. 12 million read Cooking Light, a Time Inc. publication for healthy eating, monthly. the point being even as art and fashion overlap, they remain still the group of 'cool kids' sitting atop of the social mass of billions. the mass dress and talk as they think the cool kids would, and to go to just one of the their parties would be devine. just like high school, an understatement would be to say the cool ones are not unaware the others are watching. ..so is the Image Industry... that just best describes it. because not only are we all in this business of handling branding, beauty, fantasy, sex.... it is purely about... IMAGE. of the individual and the world as everyone sees it. and i think that this is an artistic endeavor in itself by all those involved, together. so again, no matter what it is that you are doing here, please be grateful that your job ultimately is the handling the perpetual conception and rebirth of luxury culture's reception. you therefore must be enjoying some luxury merely as a product of this. it is almost a certified pastime to speak of how bored or tired one is doing one of many things in this industry of image; the humor found in the relativity that one has come to accept as a normality in a life of luxurious privilege. I have been searching for such a description for a year now and this simple phrase is the best description found (on imagist) so far. it's an amazing business more beautiful and elegant than that even of hollywood thanks to the collection of said covert agents crafting a world of influence and information that somewhat still escapes the universally inclusive world of texting and internet. this business is still a level of elitists. and not in a self centered fashion, only in a sense of self realized talent. the same effort as those on wall street give to numbers, we apply to a world of art and influence and therefore, crafting the very underlying culture for which all yearn. the Imagery of Elegance. this is not hollywood- this is Business of raw desire. it's P.I. eatin the world like Otis Spunkmeyers.
